Visiting any church for the very first time can be a tough experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What's here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions surface. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Heritage Baptist will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and "at home"!
1. Finding Heritage Baptist Church We are located at 2040 Martinsburg Pike (Route 11) in Winchester, Virginia. From I-81, take Exit 317 and head north on Route 11. We are about 1/4 mile on the right after you pass the Rutherford Commons Shopping Center (Target, Lowes, Chick-Fil-A). A Parking lot greeter will help you find a place to park and direct you into our building. The greeter can also answer any other questions you might have.
2. Finding Nurseries, Classes, and Services All of our classes and services are provided under one roof. We will help you find the nursery and direct you to the different classes that are available.
3. What's here for my kids? We are a brand new ministry and have great plans for our kids ministry program. Our goal is to have something special for every age child from birth through college! Currently, at every service there ia a safe, clean, and highly staffed nursery for children three years old and under. During our Sunday School hour, children four years old through sixth grade can attend a Bible-centered class that is fun and friendly. This class is staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. We also have a Teen Sunday School Class. Your young person will be challenged to face the pressures of today from a Biblical viewpoint. As our ministry grows, we plan to add a Mid-Week program for kids called Kids 4 Truth.
4. What's the morning schedule? There is a Sunday school hour that begins at 10:00 a.m. Worship Services begin at 11:00 a.m.
5. What's on the schedule for adults, and what should I expect?
Adults have to opportunity to attend our Sunday School Classes and our Worship Service. Our Sunday School Classes are designed to teach the principles found in God's Word. These classes are about 45 minutes in length. In our Worship Service, adults have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful and inspiring music, followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Walkowiak. This service is a little over one hour in length.
6. How should I dress?
There is not a dress code at Heritage Baptist Church for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Heritage Baptist!
7. Are there services at other times? Yes. We have a Sunday evening service (completely different from Sunday morning) that begins at 5:30 p.m. Again, in this service you'll enjoy special music as well as a challenging and helpful message from Pastor Walkowiak. We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for a mid-week Bible study. If you can't be our guest on Sunday morning, we hope you'll visit with us during another service time.
8. Am I expected to participate in the offering? No. We don't invite you to Heritage Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
If there's something we missed on this list, just give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you're new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it's been a long time since you've attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Heritage Baptist will be awesome! We exist to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you'll feel right at home from the very first moment you step onto campus! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
